Woodcock 2 Charity Gig

The Kraak Gallery in Manchester played host to the first Tobys Gift charity gig on the 18th of November last year. Six acts, comprising both bands and artists performed on the night in order to raise funds for both Toby’s Gift and the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

Elizabeth de Cent was the first to take to the stage with her unique blend of acoustic sounds and soft lyrics shortly followed by Lucy Mae who takes her inspiration from her idols in music such as Aretha Franklin, Bessie Smith and Al Jolson. Having just signed a record deal to release her debut album, expect to hear big things in 2013 from Lucy.

Aaron Jordan has been fascinated by music since he was three years old and has always considered Michael Jackson to be amongst his biggest idols. This shows in the style of both his voice and persona on stage, but don’t be mistaken with this style. Arron writes his own material and armed with recent new single release ‘Tight Grip’, he seems set to go far this year

Lennie Hammersley is a singer song writer from Manchester whose husky tones and acoustic style go together like tea and toast. Lennie blew the whole crowd away and whisper it quietly but was many peoples highlight of the entire evening. Closing proceedings were two bands who contrast on different levels of the spectrum entirely. Landmarks are a pop punk from Manchester who formed in the winter of 2011 and have since released demos and have recently entered a competition to play at Slam Dunk Festival in Leeds, which from an entirely none biased view they should win

Purge are four lads who met at college and started gigging together around 18 months later an alternative grunge rock band started gigging Jan 2012, combining a variety of influences from funk grooves to punk riff’s, to find and create an original sound. consists of four players; lead guitarist-Haiden Mchale, bass player-Josh Wirth, vocals guitarist-Bob Hunter and drummer-Danny Smith. An original and charismatic band who write all their own music. Fantastic to watch live, with a great vibe, they capture an audience, keeping you intrigued as to where the song is going. On the night itself over £250 was raised, all of which of course went straight to TobysGift.

Cadgwith Cove Charity Christmas Swim

Every year Cadgwith Cove in Cornwall conduct a charity swim event on Christmas Day in the nearby beach to raise money for a selected charity. This year they decided to donate the money to #tobysgift as that is the place where Sally, Graham and Stephen lost their Son and Brother. The people of Cadgwith therefore got kitted into fancy dress and made there way into the frosty sea on Christmas day and managed to raise a massive £1266.93!!! Please have a look at some of the pictures below of the event and have a good laugh!
